*CLOSED* Giveaway: To The Moon

To The Moon

When I read a few pages of reviews on this game via its Steam store page I saw more than a few folks talking about how the game made them cry. LotRO made me cry after spending years with different characters in the story and then, suddenly, witnessing their death(s). A little game like this? No way, no how, I thought. The screenshot above (with the dialogue removed so as not to spoil) is the moment in game where I, without warning, cried. Just hit me out of the blue, BLAM! EYES ARE WET! It’s not a bad cry, it’s a very sweet one. The story in this game is slow to start but absolutely worth finishing!

Here’s what the Steam store page says about the game:

Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts have peculiar jobs: They give people another chance to live, all the way from the very beginning… but only in their patients’ heads.

Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing the patients remember before drawing their last breath. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives, but didn’t.

This particular story follows their attempt to fulfill the dream of an elderly man, Johnny. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny’s past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is.

And Johnny’s last wish is, of course… to go to the moon.

The system requirements for Windows, Mac and Steam OS/Linux are here.

So how does this giveaway work?

  • You have to have Steam to play the game as I’ll be gifting the winner the game through Steam. There will be instructions in the email explaining how to download Steam in case you don’t have it already. Steam is a free download.
  • The winner will have to use a valid email address when commenting (not IN the comment itself, just in the input box you have to fill out TO comment so it’s kept private) so I can send the download link for the game. I won’t sell or give your email address to anyone, promise. If you’re signed in to WordPress when you comment make sure the email associated with your WordPress profile is a valid one that you can check.
  • You have to leave a comment on this post in order for me to enter you into a random draw to win the game.
  • Oh, and you need an internet connection to download the game.

– You don’t have to be my Steam friend in order for me to gift the game to you because Steam allows for people to send gifts to email addresses, not just through the client. If you want to add me as a Steam friend, that’s cool. Not required though.

– I will assign each person who comments a number and then enter the numbers in a Random Number Generator to determine the winner. Multiple comments from the same person won’t increase your chances of winning. In other words, if you comment 187 times you’re still only getting one entry number assigned to you.

This giveaway starts as soon as I publish this post (8AM CST on 01/05/15) and runs through (Midnight CST 01/09/15  ). I will then use the RNG linked above to draw a winner. I’ll email the winner on Saturday and if I haven’t heard from them by Sunday night I’ll draw for a new winner on Monday. Sound fair?

Comment below for a chance to win. Good luck, and, I hope you get to the moon!

EDITING TO ADD: Giveaway is over and a winner has been drawn! Thanks for entering!

  1. Not that I need ANOTHER game on Steam to play, but this one has me intrigued. It’s been awhile since I played a good 2D RPG game, so count me in!

  2. Im IN! Good luck to all.

  3. Thanks for the giveaway. Sounds moving and I like it.

  4. Looks very cool. I’ll jump in for this one!

  5. Sure, why not enter this contest. I’ve wanted to play this game ever since it was on greenlight. I just normally don’t like taking other people’s chances away, but for this game, I’m going to have to throw my hat in the ring.
